President’s Message July, 2010
Earlier this month, we celebrated Independence Day in America – a very significant day in our history. Yet, every time I think of our nation’s independence, I think of our personal dependence on others – our family, friends, co-workers, co-volunteers, and professional associates. Yes, we depend on each other – probably more so than we usually admit.
Speaking of dependence on others, we have 2 very important, annual events coming up in July and August – our SHRM Foundation Golf Tournament and our Diversity Conference.
For BOTH events, we still need:
Sponsors - Sponsors help provide the needed funding that helps our chapter provide ongoing programming and giving (foundation gifts, scholarships, etc). In return, sponsors receive exposure to us and our companies. We need YOU to consider sponsoring one or both of the events. Will you approach those in your company/organization who can help make it happen?
Participants - In the golf tournament, participants are GOLFERS!!! What fun, while helping to generate SHRM Foundation funds! Can you or your company field some golfers for the day? Do you have friends at school, church, work, community who are avid golfers that you can advise of the tournament? In the diversity conference, participants are ATTENDEES!!! Can you attend? Can you advise others in your company/organization of the event so perhaps they can attend? Full details on both events are on our website.
Volunteers - Both events “happen” because of advance work by volunteers and “day of event” volunteers. We still have spots for “day of” volunteers. Can you? Will you?
As you see, we NEED each other.
We are dependent on each other.
Will you help?
Join with us, network with us, serve with us, and share your talents with us on behalf of those we serve. There are many opportunities!
